supporting your community

First Financial Bank was recently honored by Indiana state Rep. Mike Andrade for its initiative to support small minority-owned businesses in Northwest Indiana.

Andrade presented a certificate of recognition at the First Financial location in Highland, Indiana. Michael Schneider, commercial market president for Northwest Indiana, accepted on behalf of all First Financial Bank associates in the area.

“We appreciate this recognition from Rep. Andrade, and it is a great reminder to us about how supporting small minority-owned businesses can positively impact so many people throughout the Hoosier State,” Schneider said.

Earlier this year, First Financial announced that it provided $40,000 to the Northwest Indiana Reinvestment Alliance (NWIRA) for distribution to small minority-owned businesses in Northwest Indiana. NWIRA then distributed those funds as grants to small, minority-owned businesses with a limited number of employees.

The First Financial Bank Minority Small Business Fund will distribute a total of $250,000 this year through local economic development organizations in Columbus, Ohio; Dayton; Indianapolis; Louisville; and Northwest Indiana. These organizations will in turn distribute to minority small businesses in their areas.
